2 cups beans
Water to cover
2-3 cloves of garlic (minced)
2-3 bay leaves, whole
1 Tbs. New Mexico Colorado chile (ground)
2-3 slices of bacon
Cook beans in a crockpot overnight with garlic and bay leaves.
When ready to refry them, cook some bacon up in a cast iron skillet. Eat the bacon or give it to someone who will appreciate it.
Reserve the broth the beans have cooked in.
Cook the beans in the hot bacon grease, seasoning to taste. Add broth that the beans cooked in to bring it to a proper consistency.
Mash with a potato masher, cook until thickened. Too thin? Add more beans. Too thick? Add more broth.
